BeaLu Books
BeaLu Books is a Tampa-based independent book publisher established in July 2015 that seeks to educate and motivate young readers in every genre. Each title is crafted with the burgeoning booklover in mind, providing content that supports early childhood development and challenges readers to broaden their vocabulary and more closely examine the natural world around them. BeaLu Books prioritizes books that provide context for social issues, mental health, and diversity in a palatable way for young readers, striving to create a healthy dialogue and discourse for parents and their young readers. Our goal is to bring our authors’ stories to life and produce books that a diverse group of young readers can both deeply connect with and derive inspiration from. We leverage years of experience, a careful eye for editorial development, and a talented team of illustrators and designers. BeaLu Books works with local charities to support their local community, and the communities of their authors to donate a portion of each sale to charities such as Mercyful Project, One Simple Wish, Every Child a Reader, and Micah's Miles.

Our Founder
Luana K. Mitten is the founding editor and CEO of BeaLu Books, which she established as a way to bring the joy of quality books to children. Having personally written 58 books and edited hundreds more, Luana brings a wealth of experience to her role. Prior to founding BeaLu Books, she served in a variety of editorial roles and worked as an educator, teaching creative writing and reading to elementary school students. As the founding editor of a small but mighty independent book press, she works with authors to take their writing from manuscript to published book and coordinates with her talented team of in-house illustrators and designers to produce titles that support development and challenge young readers. Luana named the company BeaLu books after her two dogs Mr. Beans and Lucy, who were shelter dogs her family adopted.
