Heather Quillen
Heather Quillen is a communicator at heart, with a B.A. in Communication from the University of Central Florida and a professional journey shaped by storytelling, advocacy, and community engagement. With over 20 years of experience designing programs and crafting narratives that uplift marginalized voices, Heather’s work has always revolved around using communication as a tool for education, empowerment, and change—values that naturally extend to the world of publishing.
From her early days at the Parents Resource Center in Orlando to leadership roles at organizations like Community Health Centers of Central Florida and the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians, Heather has developed a deep understanding of how message, audience, and purpose come together to create lasting impact—core principles in both public health and powerful storytelling.
As founder of YoMagination, Inc., she led the creation of Kids YoPoweR!, a wellness initiative that integrates art, mindfulness, and movement—demonstrating her belief in the transformative power of narrative beyond the page. Through this work, she helped shape content that speaks to children on both emotional and cognitive levels, a skill that translates seamlessly into writing and developing books for young readers.
Now based in Florida, Heather serves as Communications Director at BeaLu Books, where she combines her expertise in education, advocacy, and engagement to help authors shape meaningful, mission-driven stories. As an aspiring author herself, she is passionate about crafting content that nurtures empathy, resilience, and curiosity—especially for children navigating complex emotional and social worlds.
For Heather, writing isn’t just about words—it’s about impact, inclusion, and making sure every story finds the audience it was meant to serve.
